Projects under the Zakat Fund
Free medical treatment
Each of three organizations, LRBT, Fatimid Foundation and the Health Foundation, is financing their own areas of responsibility, while RMWO takes the responsibility of providing treatment for the rural under-privileged under the Zakat fund. The expense is estimated at Rs 3 million per month.
Education for flood-displaced students
Zakat-deserving children from the IDP coommunity of the flood-affected areas are being brought to Rashidabad, where additional facilities for 200 boys have been created. Annual expense on travel, medical, clothing, boarding and tuition is estimated at Rs 150,000 per year per student. An initial induction of 100 boys will cost Rs 15 million.
General social services
With the onset of Ramazan, it is incumbent to approach families living under the poverty line in rural areas. With excessive inflation, food costs have risen out of these families' reach. Ration packages, worth Rs 2,000 each, will be distributed to 1,000 families and will contain supplies to carry each family for a month. This project is worth Rs 2 million.
