Our Mission

We focus on eliminating illiteracy and alleviating deprivation from the country through establishing projects at district level. The project encompasses four essential elements of progress (education, health, environment and socio-economic uplift) which need must be addressed to help the disadvantaged.

Our Objectives

The objective of RMWO is to set up model villages throughout the country which shall integrate all essential facilities in a well-knit mosaic so as to ensure positively beneficial outflow to the needy rural folk. Our main thrust is on education, health and vocational training contributing above all in helping to transform the rural mindset from superstitious to the rational. Corollary benefits that would accrue include a check on rural migration to urban towns and empowerment.

How we succeed

Rashidabad is a city of collaboration. RMWO's objectives are met by joining hands with experienced and credible organizations, who have set up operations within Rashidabad. This includes The Citizens' Foundation (TCF), General Traders (YK Academy) and the Old Boys' Association of the PAF Public School, Sargodha providing expertise in education, Layton-Rehmatullah Benevolent Trust (LRBT), Fatimid Foundation, the Shehnaz Ghani Trust and the Healthcare Foundation providing healthcare services, the Mustafa Benevolent Trust and the DMKM Welfare Trust providing socio-economic services.

A Message from the President's Desk

Rashid Memorial Welfare Organization (RMWO) was set up by a group of retired PAF officers in 1998 in memory of Flt. Lt. Rashid Ahmed Khan, who embraced 'Shahadat' on Dec 13th, 1997 when his Aircraft caught fire above a densely populated area. In a struggle to save thousands on land, he maneuvered his Mirage away from population but in the effort sacrificed his own life. In the same spirit, we set up RMWO to dedicate and give to others what is not ours –or life through the spirit to help those who need it the most.

RashidAbad, a pilot project of RMWO, is in interior Sindh 35 KM from Hyderabad towards MirpurKhas, stretched over 100 acres. Foundation stone was laid on 13 Dec'98 by the then Governor Sindh, Gen. Moinuddin Haider. It encompasses all four elements of a sustainable society; education, health, environment and socio-economics.

With an initial donation of only Rs. 15.0 million by the Trustees, land was acquired gradually and then construction started as per funds poured in. RMWO is managed by Board of Trustees who are all friends with a mission to change and uplift the rural under privileged. We are thankful to all our friends and donors from all over Pakistan and abroad for supporting us in this noble cause. The names which need mention are: Infaq Foundation, Rajby Trust, I-Care Foundation, Aloo Dinshaw Trust, Mustafa Benevolent Trust, General Traders, Meezan Bank, Efroze Chemicals, Marjan Feeds, Sind Feeds, Civil Aviation Authority, State Life Corporation, DMKM Welfare Fund, Paramount Dist., Sameera & Khurram, and Friends of RMWO from all over Pakistan.

Alhamdulillah! The progress made by the project since its inception in 1999 has been remarkable. Rashidabad has started serving the rural population in a humble way but a lot is to be done to achieve its objective of serving the "Under Privileged Rural Population of Pakistan". May Allah accept the selfless devotion in time, efforts and wealth of many who have generously donated for the cause of humanity, and reward them here and in the Hereafter. We invite one and all to join us in this humane and purposeful endeavor. We owe it to humanity and our beloved country Pakistan. The progress made so far under various sectors is discussed below. All projects are housed in the walled City of Rashidabad.
