A
deep rumbling roar shatters the serenity of the lush green fields as two
Mirages streak like silver arrows over the city of Tando Allahyar. Flight
Lieutenant Rashid and his leader disappeared into the setting sun as fast
as they had come. Their image, however, continued to linger in the minds
of people; unaware that destiny was in the making. Rashid, the son of their
soil had paid the last homage to his place of birth. That night, tired
and restless, Rashid lay awake with the memories of his childhood in Tando
Allahyar. The poor, undernourished and oppressed faces continued to disturb
his mind. Deeply saddened, tears rolling down his cheeks, he prayed fervently
to God for strength and opportunity to improve the lot of these people.
Suddenly he felt relaxed, and sleep took over; oblivious that his prayers
had been answered. Next day his aircraft developed a technical fault, which
dictated abandoning it immediately Undeterred by imminent danger to his
life, he guided the aircraft away from populated area and crashed in the
process. The flight of an eagle had ended, but a new journey for his father
had begun.
RASHIDABAD
- A BEACON OF HOPE
Rashidabad,
the city of hope, where a dream is coming true, owes its birth to the vision
of a ghazi father and a shaheed son. Located on Hyderabad - Mirpurkhas
road near Tando Allahyar, the project spreads over 86 acres of beautiful
fertile land. Lt. Gen. Moinuddin Haider, Governor Sindh, formally launched
the project on I3th December 1998. The cost of the project estimated at
Rs. 925 million is to be met through donations. The city would provide
boarding and education facilities to selected children. It would also house
a vocational training center. To keep the whole project environmentally
friendly and pleasing to sight, selected 10 acres have been separately
earmarked as environmental area.
BASIC
AREAS OF FOCUS:
Education:
It
is an ever-growing continues process neglect is criminal. We cannot be
a free and just society without it. Nor can we prosper as a nation. The
“Neglected” & the Deprived” have to be brought into the fold to transform
their static socioeconomic status into productive members.
To
achieve the objective, first step has been to start a school. A day school
for 2600 children and a Public School for 400 boys with 30% from the Zakat
depended families will receive state of the art schooling & training.
There is a programme to keep a team of roving teachers, who will impart,
monitor and assess the education in all villages within the tehsil. It
will prepare children to be responsible and worthy citizens. Female education
is especially emphasized both for adults and the young.
Vocational
Training Centre will additionally provide the needed skills for all members
with priority given to females.
Health
Care:
Health
is amongst the fundamental concerns to ensure a vibrant society A full
fledged 200 bed Hospital, designed gratis by D.R. Surti, is planned to
be launched by March, 2003. Besides looking after the medical needs of
the city residents, it will cater for people of the surrounding areas.
A 200 bed Sarai will provide accommodation to the accompanying kinfolks
of the patients.
Poverty

This
program is about self-sufficiency and earning a livelihood with respect
and dignity, To improve their self worth, the destitute females in particular,
need initial financial assistance to start a sustainable economic activity.
Interest free loan packages upto Rs. 10000 have been provided to the villagers
for small business ventures. The villagers are gaining confidence in managing
their affairs and the females especially are able to feel significantly
enfranchised to look after their families.
Environment
Habitat

and fountains as beautification add-ons / features. RMWO has constituted
an elaborate program to off-set the effects of environmental pollution;
indeed to inculcate the kind of education that not just cures the ill effects
but actually prevents pollution. Strict compliance with “NO” SMOKING” and
“ NO LITTERING” is the general motto that RMWO will enforce at Rashidabad.
A
Home & an Institute:
Rashidabad
is not just a home for the destitute, but a haven for various institutes
providing the underprivileged opportunities to break the chains of poverty
by learning skills for self-reliance. It will raise the standard of education,
health and living of the downtrodden making them dignified and productive
citizens of Pakistan. It is so designed that it will prevent implementation
failures. On the contrary with the Zeal of volunteers and the appreciation
of benefits by the rural themselves it will effectively be a model to be
